We don’t serve God because He needs us to serve Him. We serve him because we need to serve Him.

We don’t tithe because God needs our money. We tithe because we need to give Him our money.

We don’t love God because He needs out love. We love God because we need to love Him.

There is nothing, not one thing, that God needs from us. There is not a single command that He gives us that stems from something He needs. Everything that He asks of us, He asks because it will help us to grow. That is why the law is “More precious than gold,” and “Sweeter than honey.” It’s because it is one of the myriad ways that God is trying to bring us closer to Him, and into deeper understand of who He is and His love for us.
